Why Ronald McDonald clashed with cops at Hungry Jack’s
A man who dressed up as Ronald McDonald and handed out free burgers outside a Hungry Jack’s store was involved in an ugly clash with cops who ordered him to move on.
An Australian YouTube prankster may have created his viral masterpiece with a stunt that saw him moved on by police from two NSW Hungry Jack’s stores.
Going by the moniker Floppy, the man’s latest online mission was to challenge the fast food giant’s slogan – “The burgers are better at Hungry Jack’s”.
Donning the iconic Ronald McDonald costume, with a trestle table and a load of Mcdonald’s burgers on hand, Floppy set up two pop-up “McRonald’s” stores outside the fast food giant.
In the at-times foul-mouthed video, queues of people quickly swamp the ‘McRonald’s’ table – perhaps lured by the free burgers and nuggets.
Some even submitted to a blindfolded Maccas vs HJ’s taste test.
“There are more people in my restaurant than that 50s f***ing diner,” Floppy declared at one point in the video.
Predictably Hungry Jack’s staff were none too happy, and police were called to move on the prankster from both locations.
In the first tense standoff with the cops, Floppy wore their patience thin as he stuck to his bright yellow and red alter-ego.
“What’s your name, mate?” an officer was recorded asking.
“Ronald … Ronald McDonald,” Floppy responded.
He was given a move-on direction from the first location, and after some burger giveaways, taunts, and taste tests at a second location, He was again moved on.
“Don’t make me lock you up,” another officer was filmed telling him.
The video, however, reignited the ever-heated Maccas Vs HJs debate.
“The burgers ARE better at Hungry Jacks,” one responded.
“HJs Vs Maccas, I dunno what’s worse?” said another.
“I work at Maccas, and I appreciate these videos,” one thankful ally added.
Not all, however, saw the funny side, pointing out that the YouTuber may have been wasting police resources.
“Is anyone actually watching this and laughing? It’s just cringe annoying the cops and the staff,” one commenter said.
“I feel sorry for the people who had to call the cops while trying just to do their job. TikTokers always do dumb s**t like this,” another pointed out, to which Floppy responded: “I never entered the store. I stood outside, giving away free burgers. But to be fair, dialling three numbers is rough. Give ’em a pay rise.”
Between YouTube and TikTok, the content has been viewed almost a million times in two days.
It’s not the first fast-food chain to find itself in the YouTuber’s cross hairs with previous videos showing him setting up a ‘McRonald’s’ at a KFC.
Others show the young man terrorising golf courses and vape stores.
