Woolworths has pulled one of its popular seafood items off shelves because of an undeclared allergen.

Markwell Foods is conducting a recall of Shore Mariner Seafood Sticks 1kg due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (egg)

“Consumers who have an egg or soy allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” it states on the Food Standards Code website.

Authorities warn the product could pose a health risk to anyone allergic to egg.

”Consumers who have an egg or soy allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the site reads.

The recalled product has been available for sale at Woolworths stores nationally.

It has a best-before date of June 2022, but excludes already relabelled items to include egg and soy declaration
