A popular sweet treat has been urgently recalled over concerns it contains an undeclared allergen.

Coffee Table Delights have had to recall its Meringues due to a packaging error, with the packaging declaring it is gluten free on the front.

However, Food Standards Australia have issued the recall as anyone with a gluten intolerance could “have a reaction if they product is consumed.”

The product has been sold in IGA and independent grocery stores across Western Australia.

The recall comes just days after an internet favourite cheese featured in thousands of online videos was urgently recalled over fears it could cause serious illness.

Australian-based That’s Amore Cheese announced on Tuesday it was recalling its burrata cheese 125g product due to contamination from listeria monocytogenes.

The serious infection can cause severe illness in pregnant women, unborn babies, babies, the elderly, and anyone who is immunocompromised, according to the NSW Food Authority.

“The general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes,” the agency said.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

“Customers should also return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
