Spoons in Weet-Bix giveaway promotion recalled over choking hazard fears
A Weet-Bix giveaway product is being urgently recalled over fears it could be a choking hazard, leading to severe injury or even death.
Spoons sent to children as part of a cereal giveaway competition have been urgently recalled over fears they could be a choking hazard.
Product Safety Australia issued the alert for all wooden spoons sent to winners from the Weet-Bix Little Kids Essentials Bowl Giveaway, warning the tip of the spoon could separate from the handle.
“If the tip separates from the handle, it can pose a choking hazard for young children, which can lead to severe injury or death,” the warning said.
Anyone who had the spoon was advised to immediately stop using it.
It was also advised that the spoon should be kept in a safe and secure spot not accessible by children.
A new silicon spoon would be sent to affected customers as a replacement together with a reply-paid satchel and a direction to return the original spoon.
The spoons were distributed to winners across the country between May 18 and May 25 this year.
