Smith’s recalls popular cheese and onion chips
One of Australia’s most iconic chip brands is recalling one of its most popular packets of the snack due to contamination.
Smith’s is conducting an urgent recall of its cheese and onion chips as well as a number of variety packs due to contamination fears.
The Smith’s cheese and onion flavour in 45g and 170g packages are affected.
Also impacted are the six-pack of Smith’s original flavour and the same flavour that’s contained in the 20-pack fun mix.
The recall has been issued due to the potential presence of plastic pieces in the packaging.
These plastic pieces could cause illness or injury if they are consumed
The Smith’s cheese and onion packs were available for sale in Woolworths, Coles and independent and convenience stores in NSW and Queensland.
The Smith’s original packs were available for sale in Woolworths, Coles, IGA and independent and convenience stores in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
The products with the following best before dates are impacted
- Smith’s cheese and onion packs with best before date of September 17, 2023, and a time stamp between 20:28 – 22:28
- Smith’s original six pack with a best before date of 10 September 2023
- Smith’s original included in the 20 pack fun mix with a best before date of September 10, 2023
Consumers should not eat this product and should contact Smith’s Snackfood Company to arrange a full refund.
