Woolworths announces price drops on more than 400 items – including meat
Aussies can expect some cost-of-living relief from today, with Woolworths announcing a surprise price drop on hundreds of everyday items.
It’s no secret that shoppers have been fed up with the rising cost of living – particularly with groceries – in Australia, but now Woolworths has vowed to drop the price on hundreds of products.
From today, the Aussie supermarket giant is slashing the price on more than 400 everyday items by an average of 18 per cent, and the promotion will run until May 28.
A selection of meat, cheese, fruit, vegetables and cleaning products have been reduced.
“We know our customers are looking for lower prices and offers to help them manage their budgets, and we want to help them to spend less when they shop with us,” Paul Harker, Woolworths supermarkets chief commercial officer said.
“This season we’ve included a range of products on Prices Dropped for Autumn to ensure families can pick up ingredients for meals, snacks for the family and kids lunch boxes, as well as household essentials at even greater value.
“This is on top of our 6,000 weekly specials and Low Price program. Customers can also enjoy great value in store with our wide range of own brand products which are 30 per cent less on average compared to similar brands.”
Items on the list include Doritos Corn Chips Cheese Supreme 170g, which will drop from $4.80 to just $3.
Potatoes are a staple in every Aussie household, and certain varieties will also have prices slashed.
In every state but Tasmania and Western Australia, a 1.5kg bag of Woolworths Mashing Potatoes will drop from $7 to $4.50.
In Western Australia, a 2kg bag of the supermarket’s Royal Blue Washed Potatoes will drop from $7.50 to $4.50 and in Tasmania, the brand’s 2kg bag of Dutch Cream Potatoes will now be $2 less.
A variety of mince meat items will be slashed between 50 cents and a dollar while Woolworths Beef Sizzle Schnitzel 400 grams will be cut from $12 to $10.
Some of the biggest savings can be seen on Woolies’ Beef Porterhouse Steak & Butter 400g which will see a price drop of $3.50 and the 30 pack of Pepsi Max No Sugar will be cut from $35 to $26.
A handful of Hillview cheeses will also have their prices slashed.
Other standout price drops include:
* Kids 5-pack bananas, pears or apples - was $3.50, now $2.50
* Bertocchi Premium Boneless Leg Ham from the deli - was $31/kg, now $26/kg
* Dynamo Professional 7in1 Laundry Detergent Capsules 45 pack - was $43, now $30
* Dettol Protect 24-hour Multi Purpose Cleaning Wipes 90 pack - was $13, now $7.80
* Pine O’Cleen Multi Purpose Spray Varieties 750ml - was $7, now $3.50
