“Spices can be different prices in the supermarket depending on which aisle you shop in,” she explains in the video.

“For example, this curry powder in the Indian section is 3.5 times cheaper than in the spices aisle … so don’t forget to check out your international aisles and your local international grocers.”

Queenie’s supermarket hack has been viewed more than 86,000 times, with people labelling it a “pro tip”.

Some said it was better to bypass the major supermarkets in favour of international grocers if you wanted better quality spices.

“Highly suggest going to the Indian shop for spices!” one person recommended.

“They’re a lot better taste wise and a lot cheaper for the quantity.”

Other people shared their tips for saving at the grocery store, with one person saying they always bought fresh herbs at Asian supermarkets where they cost 80 cents a bunch as opposed to $3 a pop at Coles and Woolies.

“Don’t go to your supermarket or a fancy butcher,” one person wrote. “Go to your local less fancy butcher, it’s cheaper.”

“Never shop at eye height! Look down, that’s where the cheap stuff is,” another shopper recommended.

“Same goes for nuts and dried fruit,” one commenter said. “Always go to the baking aisle rather than the snack aisle or produce area.”
