‘Weird’ new $4 chip at Woolies
A Woolworths shopper who discovered two new chip flavours describing them as ‘weird’ and ‘addictive’ with her TikTok causing a division.
Woolworths shoppers have discovered a brand new savoury item that’s recently hit shelves — but they’re divided over it.
In a TikTok that’s clocked more than 20,000 views, a Woolies customer put the new Calbee Melts chips flavours — Original Cheese and Cheeseburger — to the test, rating them out of 10.
The woman, who goes by the name of ‘Jen’ on the platform, was pretty excited to discover “actual cheese melt” on each individual chip, scoring the Original flavour an 8 out of 10 and Cheeseburger a mere 6.5.
“Super rich, but addicting,” she said.
Some who have tried the new flavours said they weren’t the biggest fans, while others found them incredibly tasty.
“Love the brand, but the cheese was a bit too gooey,” one TikTok user wrote, to which Jen responded: “At first it was weird for me as well but then it was whatever”.
She said while she enjoyed the chips, she would “probably only go back” if she was really craving it.
“I wasn’t a fan, I was hoping the cheese would be more solid, fun for a once off though,” another commented.
But many were still eager to give it a go.
“Wow I need to try this yom,” one woman wrote.
“I enjoyed these. Very rich,” said another, while a third commented: “We got these. So yummy!!”
A Woolies spokesperson told news.com.au the two new chip flavours, which are exclusive to the retailer, hit stores just a few weeks ago.
“Each chip is loaded with a flavour combination drizzled with creamy cheese, adding extra layers of fun to your next party or barbecue,” the spokesperson said.
“We’re always looking to expand our range of unique snacks and collaborations that excite customers, so we’re pleased to see customers take a liking to it.”
The Calbee Melts Chips range is $4 for 170g.
