A technique for cracking eggs has gone viral on TikTok – but according to some there’s one glaring problem with it.

We’ve all been there: Tried to crack an egg while cooking, only to end up with a broken yolk and shell everywhere.

Now there’s a technique that’s gone viral on TikTok which promises to put an end to all your egg woes – but not everyone is convinced, saying it would be hard to do on a hot pan with oil.

The hack was first attempted by TikTok user @maddysumnerx in a video that has gone on to get more than 700,000 views.

In the clip Maddy drops a whole egg – shell and all – into the middle of a pan and it smashes.

But instead of the shell breaking into lots of small bits it comes away easily in two large pieces, revealing an egg with an intact yolk.

Soon others like were attempting the hack, including TikTok mythbusting account @partyshirt and KIIS FM radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, who shared her successful egg crack on the Kyle and Jackie O Show’s Instagram page.

The trick has won plenty of fans on TikTok and Instagram with people saying it was “genius”.

“And to think I’ve been cracking eggs like a bloody peasant this whole time. Gravity is gonna be my peasant from now on,” another commented.

Others said they would be trying it out only after they had cleaned the outside of the egg.

“I’m going to try his but only after I’ve scrubbed the egg clean. I’m not keen on chicken juice on my egg,” they wrote.

But others weren’t as convinced, claiming the hack hadn’t worked for them and there were easier ways to crack an egg.

“It’s always best to slap two eggs together to crack one. You won’t have any shells to worry about,” one commenter advised.

“What’s wrong with cracking the egg on the side of the pan?” another asked.

Others were simply baffled with how this was a hack to begin with, with one person saying it wasn’t practical as it was “so easy” to crack an egg.

“Now try that with hot oil in the pan,” one commented.

“If anyone can’t crack an egg properly they should not be near a stove,” another said.
“Can people really not crack eggs?” a commenter asked.
