Twisties collaborates with cult Aussie brand for wild new flavour
Two Australian snack brands have collaborated to create an “unexpected twist” on a cult chip – and it will send “heads turning”.
Following the success of its “controversial” raspberry-flavoured Twisties, the cult chip brand has announced it is launching another wild new flavour.
The Aussie favourite has collaborated with Donut King to release a flavour inspired by the bakery’s most popular treat – the cinnamon doughnut.
The new Twisties will have a rich cinnamon spice flavour and feature the “deliciously sweet undertone” of a Donut King doughnut.
The new Twisties are only available for a limited time, hitting stores on August 7, and are sure to be as divisive as the last bizarre flavour combo.
Melanie Saluni, Twisties’ brand manager, said it was “delighted” to deliver fans an “unexpected twist” on its classic chip.
“We wanted to shine a light on the fun that Twisties brings to the Australian chip aisle, so we thought what better way to do that than with a new flavour that is set to get heads turning,” she said.
“The new Twisties Donut King Cinnamon Donut flavour is unlike any chip you’ve tried before and we can’t wait for the feedback as consumers get their hands on this for the first time.”
Donut King said the new flavour was created to inject a “bit of fun” during a time of struggle for so many Australians.
“We couldn’t have been more excited when Twisties approached us to create a limited edition Twisties flavour,” Raquel Hine, Donut King’s marketing manager, said.
“We’re always looking for innovative ways to bring new flavour experiences to sweet treat lovers and couldn’t of thought of a better combination than two iconic Australian brands coming together to create a snack that will deliver just that.
“Similar to Twisties, we are passionate about bringing a bit of fun and joy to Australians’ day to day lives, so we couldn’t have thought of a better Aussie favourite to team up with.”
PepsiCo, the manufacturer of the popular product, released Twisties Twisted Raspberry in June.
The “weird” flavour proved “too much” for some Australians, with many declaring raspberry-flavoured chips were a definite no-no.
Social media blew up as shoppers weighed-in with their thoughts on the sweet but savoury product.
“Not too sure about these,” one wrote on Facebook, as another added: “Sounds gross.”
