TikTok teen reveals ‘life changing’ McDonald’s self-service glitch he says can get you free nuggets
A teenage boy has gone viral with a video claiming a McDonald’s system glitch can get customers free McChicken nuggets.
A sneaky McDonald’s customer claims he has discovered a foolproof way to get free nuggets when ordering a meal via the restaurant’s self-service machine.
Luke Urda, from New York in the US, boasted about the “life changing” hack in a TikTok video uploaded to the platform last week.
The 17-year-old promised the loophole, which was reliant on a system glitch, would “change your life forever”.

He instructed viewers to click into the menu advertised for items between one and two dollars, then select the option for four McChicken nuggets.
Next, “it doesn’t matter what you do”, he said, as he selected barbecue sauce from the sauce options.
He then added a total of five sauces to the order by pressing the “add” button, which saw the sauce cost increase from $1 to $5.
After selecting the “add to order” option and checking out, the final screen showed he had selected 20 McChicken nuggets, but was only getting charged $5.43.
If the nuggets were the most expensive thing on the $1-$3 menu, 20 nuggets would have set him back $15 if he paid the correct price.
That means he pocketed a total saving of $10.
While some were enamoured by his handiwork, others argued there was no need to indulge in 20 nuggets.
“Not the hero we wanted, but the hero we needed,” one person wrote.

“I think you will find it’s more stealing than a hack friend. And food that unhealthy is bad, free or otherwise,” a third added.
An employee of the fast food outlet warned others against exploiting the machines.
“I have worked at McDonald’s. Don’t do this cause that’s how some of the machines get messed up or broken, so don’t do this,” he wrote.
Some said the cost of 20 McChicken nuggets in their area was $5 already, which left them confused as to why the teen was calling the stunt a “hack”.
In Australia, 20 McChicken nuggets cost $13.25 and $17.85 if purchased in a large meal.
McDonald’s has been contacted by news.com.au for detail on whether there has been a similar glitch in Australia.
