The discount food store is even cheaper than ALDI.

Move over ALDI, there’s a discount supermarket that is set to take the title of the cheapest supermarket in town.

The Golden Circle factory outlet, a food warehouse known for dishing out the good stuff at ridiculously cheap prices in Queensland, has sent eager discount shoppers into a frenzy - and for very good reason.

“It’s a good half the price of what you’d normally get, having driven from Ipswich, which is 50-minute car ride away,” one shopper told 7News.

While the warehouses for Woolworths, Coles and Aldi are stocked up, excess products as well as discontinued items (with old packaging or nearing the used-by date) from other warehouses make their way to Golden Circle’s factory, allowing the discount kings to slash prices even further.

“We get a lot of customers in who buy $200-$300 worth of stuff to last them a month,” Mick Corboy, a worker at the store, reveals.

“We can go from anywhere between 30-80 per cent off normal prices.”

So what are the biggest discounts?

While the chain promises slashed prices throughout the warehouse, fruit and vegetables are sadly left off the list.

But shoppers can expect to fill their trolleys with copious amounts of Twisties (just 50 cents), Be Natural Muesli bars ($1), Heinz BBQ sauce ($1), and 12 cans of Watties tinned spaghetti ($6).
