The Thor actor marked the occasion back in August with the supermarket giant’s Chocolate Drip Cake – which is described as a light sponge with a chocolate buttercream, finished with a Belgian dark chocolate drip. It retails for $29.

“Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Another lap around [the] sun and still goin strong!” Hemsworth captioned a photo of himself enjoying the dessert.

“I can safely say not a single piece of cake made it through the night.”

In the weeks since, dozens of shoppers have taken to social media to share their pilgrimage to try the cake for themselves.

“This is the cake Chris Hemsworth had for his birthday. He is an Australian icon,” TikTok user aims.lc shared in a video this week, which has been viewed by more than 250,000 people.

“It smells so good. It is dense … I hate the word ‘moist’, but it’s the only word coming to mind. That, my friends [is] delicious cake, [with the] thickest layer of icing. It’s so good.”

News.com.au understands that while sales have increased for the dessert since August, it is a new cake – so isn’t necessarily attributable to any specific moment.

Many praised Hemsworth in her video’s comments for his accessible taste in dessert.

“It brings me so much comfort that Thor had a Woolies cake for his birthday,” one wrote.

“Love the fact someone like him is happy with a Woolies cake!” a second agreed.

While a third commented: “I had this for my bday (without knowing Chris Hemsworth endorsed it) and it was soooo good.”

“Yes it’s delicious! They are very generous with the icing,” another person said.

It comes after the grocery store this month introduced more than 100 new baked desserts to its range – including both new and reformulated cakes, cookies, muffins, and baked sweets.

Woolworths Merchandise Bakery Manager Donald Keith joked that his team has had a “tough job” taste-testing each of the new products.

“It’s been a tough job but our team taste tested every product,” he said.

“We’ve worked hard for more than 18 months so customers can experience the great taste, quality and value our new range delivers.”
