The Mac Jr and Grand Mac return for Macca’s 50th anniversary

The fast food giant has brought back two of its most beloved burgers due to “popular demand” – but there’s a catch fans will need to know about.

The world's most bizarre Maccas menu items

Macca’s is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Australia by bringing back two of its most iconic limited edition menu items.

From Wednesday, The Mac Jr and Grand Mac will be available in McDonald’s outlets nationally in response to “popular demand”.

Both burgers are a spin on the Big Mac, with The Mac Jr a single patty version of the popular burger while the Grand Mac contains 61 per cent more beef.

“The Big Mac is one of our most popular menu items, loved by all for its fresh ingredients and iconic taste,” McDonald’s Australia marketing manager Amanda Nakad said.

“What better way to commemorate 50 years of Macca’s in Australia, than to be able to bring back the entire Mac Family for a limited time and give our customers more of what they love.”

To commemorate the burgers a limited edition glass will be available free with every medium or large Mac Family Meal.

The burgers will be available while stocks last until August 3.

The return of The Mac Jr and Grand Mac is just the latest in a string of celebrations the fast food outlet is running to mark its Australian anniversary.

Last Friday McDonald’s temporarily reduced the price of the Big Mac – 1.1 billion of which have been sold to customers here over the last 50 years – to just 50c at all restaurants across Australia.

“We are extremely proud to be celebrating 50 years of providing great tasting food and supporting our customers, people and communities in Australia,” McDonald’s Australia CEO Andrew Gregory said.

“We are firm believers in the quality and taste of Australian home grown produce and have always been and remain committed to our local suppliers and supporting more than 15,000 Aussie farmers annually.”
