Surprising reason why people are lined up around Melbourne block

A video of people lined up around a Melbourne block has shocked people with hundreds waiting in the cold for one reason.

Surprising reason for line in Melbourne

A queue has formed around the block in the middle of Melbourne for a surprising reason.

One Reddit user took to the Melbourne forum to show hundreds of people in line outside of the bakery Lune, known for its croissants.

The line extended around the block, with customers patiently waiting their turn to grab their baked goods.

The menu features a traditional French croissant baked over three days and items such as the Morning Bun, which is a croissant pastry baked with a brown sugar, cinnamon and orange zest filling.

There are only five Lune locations – all in Victoria and Queensland.

“I don’t care how good the croissants are at Lune. This is ridiculous,” the account behind the video said.

Other social media users weren’t as shocked by the video, while others said the croissants were worth it.

“I take it you haven’t been to New York, Singapore, or Hong Kong, then. People lining up for overrated food has been going on since before the Seinfeld soup episode,” one social media user said.

Another said: “They are not overrated. These win prizes in France. This has been going on for so long Lune could increase prices a lot, but they don’t.”

“You could complete a bakery apprenticeship and make your own croissants before getting to the end of the queue,” another joked.

One said: “I think its three days for Lune to make these ones. End result is both are pretty good. People love to b***h and moan but who cares if people enjoy it.”

One said the Fitzroy location also has long lines but the Armadale bakery is the newest and often quiet.

“They’re good – but yeah, not really worth the line up. We lined up just to check the hype,” another social media user commented on the video.
