One major fast food chain has shaken up its menu, launching a new range that’s very different to what it’s traditionally known for.

Subway launched its Signature Menu range last month in what it’s called the “biggest shake-up to the menu in the brand’s history”.

The Signature Menu essentially features set sandwich combinations, meaning Australians don’t have to think about bread, toppings or sauces as it’s already been curated.

So while Subway has always been known for offering customers a choice at every step in creating their sandwich, the new offering takes the decision-making out of the equation.

For instance, the Italian Meatball features meatballs in marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, spinach, tomato, onion, olives, garlic aioli, toasted on Italian herbs and cheese bread.

The Pizza Melt features pepperoni, salami, mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, olives, tomato, capsicum, onion, toasted on Italian herbs and cheese bread.

Subway Australia and New Zealand’s director of marketing Rodica Titeica explained why the brand had decided to stray from its traditional offering.

“We know that Aussies love our food, but we also recognise the increasing pressures on everyone’s time and mental load. People want hassle-free, great-tasting meal solutions that are quick, simple to order and easy to get,” she said.

“By introducing Signature Menu, we’ve taken the guesswork out of ordering, offering delicious, tried-and-tested flavour combinations that Subway customers already love. It’s more of the things people love about Subway, the less of what they don’t.”

Some of the most popular combinations have been the Italian Meatball, Pizza Melt and Chicken Bacon Ranch.

The brand has also recently released two new Signature Menu items this week.

These include Philly-Style Three-Cheese Steak, which has steak, mozzarella, natural cheddar, and Old English style cheese topped with onions, capsicum and jalapeños and garlic aioli, and

the Deli Supreme.

Ms Titeica said: “Guests have been embracing our new and streamlined menu across the country and we’ll continue to deliver innovative new flavour combinations for them to try.”

While the knew designed flavour combinations were proving popular, Ms Titeica acknowledged that some people still preferred choice - the whole reason for the chain’s build-your-own sandwich concept - and assured the “spirit of customisation” would always be part of the brand’s offering.
