Streets launches Golden Gaytime Sanga

TODAY just got a whole lot better. Streets has announced that the classic Golden Gaytime is getting a snazzy makeover.

LOOK it’s a huge call, but this could be the greatest ice cream to hit your local servo’s freezer since the arrival of the mighty Maxibon.

Streets Ice Cream has released a new variation on the beloved Golden Gaytime, the Golden Gaytime Sanga.

It’s a slab of caramel ice cream cradled between two crisp biscuits, dipped in the original Gaytime’s iconic biscuity crumbs.

It costs $3.50 and Streets claims it has “eating versatility” and “improved crumb technology” to make the sandwich “highly functional” — meaning you can stuff it in your face and not get it all over your hands.

“It’s not often you get to create snacking history, and with the launch of Sanga, we couldn’t be prouder,” said Streets marketing manager Scott Mingl.

“We know Aussies love a Gaytime and we know they love a sandwich, so why not give them something they’d go nuts over. Sanga is the future of snacking for everyone who has had a Gaytime, remembers a Gaytime or simply just loves a Gaytime.”

Streets has been on a mission to reinvent the Golden Gaytime for the past few years now, because people just cannot get enough.

In 2015, they famously launched 1.25L tubs of Golden Gaytime ice cream, after an extensive lobbying campaign by the Golden Gaytime Ice Cream Tub Project Facebook page.

“We have managed to fit Golden Gaytime into a tub with Golden Gaytime classic and two other new flavours,” a spokesman for Streets told news.com.au at the time.

“Each is a perfect union of vanilla, Gaytime biscuit crumbs and that unique Gaytime flavour. Grab a spoon and treat your tastebuds to this match made in dessert heaven.”

Last year, Streets launched another dessert hybrid — the Golden Gaytime Cornetto.

Dubbed the “Gaynetto”, the ice cream is the brain child of Sydney man Jesse James McElroy, the founder of the Golden Gaytime Icecream Project who famously campaigned Streets to introduce the 1.25L tubs.
