South Australians will be first to try McDonald’s Southern Style Chicken
The good news is McDonald’s has released an exciting new range. The sad news is, it’s only available in one lucky state.
Macca’s has (finally) given the people what they want.
For the first time in Australia, the fast-food giant will offer customers chicken drumsticks, thighs and wings in a signature coating with what they have described to be an “irresistible southern style taste”.
However, before you get too excited, there’s a catch. The new menu items will only be available to those in South Australia — and only as a trial for now.
Why them and not the rest of the country?
Well, according to Tim Kenward, McDonald’s marketing manager, they’ve always had Maccas’ back.

“Our South Australian customers continue to be extremely supportive of our new products and menu innovations, which is why they will be among the first to get their hands on the new chicken items,” Mr Kenward told news.com.au
“We hope our customers enjoy the new items and look forward to receiving their feedback.
Whether it will become a permanent fixture in the Macca’s menu will be determined on how customers like the items.
“Trials are extremely important as they allow us to understand our customer’s feedback on a new product. Watch this space for more updates,” he said.
He also added it’s the first time the fast-food chain has offered chicken pieces in their signature Southern Style coating, in Australia.
So, if you are lucky enough to live in SA, you can get your hands on the Southern style chickens from May 5 to July 27.

If you have fomo, remember Macca’s recently released three new chicken burgers that are available across all of Australia (and not just in SA).
They are the Cheese and Bacon McSpicy, Cheese and Bacon McChicken and Cheese and Bacon Deluxe.
It doesn’t have that “irresistible southern style taste” with bold pepper savoury notes, but it’s just going to have to do.
