Social media is blowing up over the new Netflix series ‘Nailed It’
PEOPLE are ditching their dates to stay home and watch this brand new reality TV series. It’s just that good.
THERE are so many cooking TV shows around that it’s hard to imagine a new series that could truly shake up the genre.
But it’s here. It’s happening. And my goodness, people are losing their minds over it. In fact, they’re cancelling their plans to stay home and binge-watch it.
Nailed It arrived on Netflix Australia this month and ever since it went to air on March 9, social media has been blowing up with praise for it.
Think of it as MasterChef, but with people who are seriously terrible in the kitchen and hosted by genuinely funny comedian Nicole Byer.
The makers describe it as “part reality contest, part hot mess”.
Iâve been laughing like an idiot at this all day. Itâs a show on Netflix called nailed it and they take people who canât bake and make them recreate extravagant cakes. This is the result ð pic.twitter.com/cE9S64Pwy3

The first episode of @Netflixâs #NailedIt was so funny it made me believe in joy again. And @nicolebyer is phenomenal in it. https://t.co/fJExbCrwVx

If youâre not watching Nailed It on Netflix, stop whatever youâre doing and put it on RIGHT NOW. Amateur bakers try to recreate amazing cakes and are terrible at it. #nailedit pic.twitter.com/Bd2Hlz2noe

The show borrows its title from the ‘nailed it’ memes that place kitchen disasters next to beautiful baked goods from Pinterest.
In each episode, (there are six half-hour episodes in the first series) the hapless bakers try to recreate professional cakes and vie for $10,000 in prize money.
The two regular hosts are joined by a guest judge for each challenge — Silvia Weinstock, designer of Kim and Kanye’s wedding cake, appears in one show.
It’s not just The People who are loving the series: critics are fans as well.
Jen Chaney reviewing for Vulture says “Nailed It is a cooking show that celebrates human error over culinary mastery.
“It’s like The Great British Baking Show, if The Great British Baking Show featured contestants who are not British and think it’s a good idea to stick a bunch of Kit Kats into a microwave when a recipe calls for melted chocolate.”
The Guardian reviewer David Renshaw was equally enthusiastic, describing it as “one of the most refreshingly shambolic cooking shows ever thrust upon the world.
“Nobody here goes on a journey and nobody recalls a childhood memory in order to add a little pathos into their bake.
“[it’s] always bizarre and unexpected, a fun palette cleanser amid an array of otherwise serious food programming.”
Nailed It is currently streaming on Netflix Australia.
