Next week’s Aldi Special Buys deal has everyone talking
It’s something that everyone needs and uses, so when the latest Aldi Special Buy deal was announced, the internet went crazy with excitement.
Aldi has announced their newest Special Buy deal, due to hit the shelves next week, and the internet is going mental for it.
For $999, the quickest Aldi shoppers will be able to secure a fridge, but according to Aldi and the internet, this isn’t just any fridge.
The Stirling french door fridge is 1800cm high, 800cm wide and 665cm deep and can hold up to 473 litres
Aldi posted an ad for their fridge online this week, recruiting Aussie cafe owner Mel Grob to point out the most impressive features of the appliance.
Mel explained the fridge had four doors, a touch panel and plenty of room inside for storing your favourite things — like, yourself, for instance.
According to Mel, the fridge also has “loads of door storage, LED lighting and adjustable glass shelves”.
“It also has a humidity and temperature-controlled fresh zone to keep fruit and vegies fresher for longer,” she said.
The fridge can be set to eco mode to save electricity, holiday mode when you’re away and super freezing mode to freeze food fast.
With the fridges expected to sell out around the country next Wednesday, those lucky enough to nab one can even have it delivered to their home free of charge.
But you won’t need to pack your trolley or strap on your trailer because all you need to secure the french door fridge is a purchase pack.
According to Mel, the purchase packs will be available from your local Aldi store assistant.
That way, all you walk out with is a plastic packet of brochures and a receipt for your $999 fridge.
Some people weren’t happy with this, saying they hoped Aldi would “have a fridge in each store on display”.
“Personally, I wouldn’t purchase a large item without viewing it first,” one person wrote.
The video generated a stack of buzz online, with Aussies especially excited by the free delivery offer.
“Quick, small and effective, well done on delivery to customers,” one woman said.
Another said: “Free home delivery! Go Aldi!”
“Well now I want a new fridge despite not needing one at all,” another person said.
Some people likened the bargain fridge to up-market brands that cost more than triple the price.
“Looks like my LG fridge I just bought,” one woman wrote.
Some people, however, were wary of buying such an expensive appliance from the low-cost supermarket chain.
“Be careful with what you buy, usually when products such as this fridge (go on sale) they won’t last long,” one woman warned, citing personal experience.
Others claimed they were disappointed the fridge didn’t come with automatic water and ice capabilities.
“The only thing it doesn’t have is the water and ice, that was my main (wish). But a great deal,” one woman said.
Another agreed: “Pity it didn’t have water in the door.”
