New Zealand man clears Melbourne Coles out of Aussie item

A video of a New Zealander clearing out a Melbourne Coles of a $3.50 grocery item has shocked Aussies who had no idea it was “so good”.

Coles item Kiwi’s are obsessed with

A New Zealand man has revealed the unlikely grocery item only available in Coles that Kiwis bring home after travelling to Australia.

The man – who goes by the username @natnmj on TikTok – shared a video that showed him clearing the shelves of Coles Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies, titled: “POV: You’re going back to New Zealand.”

During the short video, the man can be seen loading up a trolley with boxes of the item at a Melbourne store, prompting many Aussies to ask: “Why?”

Thankfully, the Kiwis were quick to let us in on the secret, revealing the simple reason for bulk buying the biscuits.

“NZ don’t have Coles cookies or Coles and some people in NZ crave for these. So if someone goes to Australia they would always ask to bring some back,” one explained.

The brilliant video was quickly flooded with comments from fellow Kiwis who agreed they did the same.

“I literally helped my daughter do this when she left last week back for Auckland,” one said.

“I’m dead. I work for an airline at the airport and almost everyone going back to NZ has at least one suitcase full of these,” another agreed.

While one woman said: “I always take like 10 packs whenever I come back from Aussie, then ask cuzzies to send me more.”

The video quickly went viral, clocking up hundreds of thousands of views – and even captured the attention of Coles who responded, asking: “Did we have enough?”

A spokesperson for the supermarket told news.com.au: “We’re glad to hear our New Zealand neighbours love our award-winning Coles Ultimate 40 per cent Triple Chocolate Cookies as much as we do.

“Packed with real chocolate chips, the decadently crunchy cookies are a perfect cheeky snack for everyone at home or abroad, and also great value at only $3.50.”

Others agreed the cookies were “the best”.

“I LOVE THE COLES COOKIES SO MUCH,” one typed excitedly.

“These are so good,” another agreed, while one said: “Don’t blame them.”

One declared: “Best cookies I’ve ever tasted tbh.”

Not everyone thought the cookies were worth shipping home, claiming the Coles snack was “overrated”.

“Bro I don’t understand the hype about them??” one stated.

“Bruh coles are sooo overrated. I’d have Tim Tams any day over those cookies,” another claimed.

Some Aussies joked they’d never take the Coles cookies “for granted” again after seeing the video.
