New $4 Aldi item so popular, you can’t find it anywhere

Shoppers are raving about a new item in Aldi’s freezer section – but as people “stock up”, others are being left empty-handed and furious.

There’s nothing better than the perfect crispy potato – but getting the skin golden and crunchy while keeping the inside fluffy and light can be extremely challenging.

However, shoppers have discovered a quick and easy way to get delicious roasties at home – a bag of frozen Goose Fat Roasting Potatoes from Aldi.

The $3.99 item is one of the supermarket’s limited-edition Christmas products – but the frozen find is proving so popular, many shoppers are reporting they’re unable to score any.

Lucky people finding the potatoes in stores are “stocking up”, sharing their tips to cooking them on Facebook.

“Chuck them in the airfryer, they come out beautifully,” one said.

“Try crushing the potatoes once cooked and putting back in oven to really crisp them up,” another said.

Others shared rave reviews after finally getting their hands on them.

“I just tried the goose fat potatoes. Oh my.....they were Devine. Sooooo good. I highly recommend them,” one wrote.

“I got my hands on the last bag at my local last week! I was so surprised I didn’t think I stood a chance. They tasted amazing,” another agreed.

While TikTok foodie Adrian Widjy described them in a video as a “must try”.

“They are so cheap and literally blew my mind, delicious,” he said.

Despite the great reviews, many commenters aired their frustrations at not being able to buy the potatoes, saying Aldi should restrict limited product ranges so everyone has a chance to sample.

“There should be a limit on special items … that way everyone can try,” one wrote.

“Can never find these, it’s so annoying,” another agreed.

Why the product is so popular

If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about a bag of spuds – you’re not alone. The key is the goose fat that they’re pre-cooked in before being frozen.

In Australia, goose fat isn’t sold in supermarkets. While you can buy it at certain butchers, it’s not cheap.

Many chefs use duck fat, with the alternative being widely available in Woolies, Coles and other supermarkets across Australia.
