Shoppers 'obsessed' with new $13 Coles item

Australians are going wild for a “delicious” new Coles product, with some saying they “can’t get over how good” it tastes.

The supermarket giant is selling a limited-edition cookie dough to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which features a collaboration between two well-known brands.

The Australian supermarket recently launched “Raspberry Bullets & White Choc” dough, combining Bennett St Dairy’s famous cookie mixture with Darrell Lea’s bite-sized White Chocolate Raspberry Bullets.

The popular Bondi eatery is known for its chocolate chip cookie dough which spiked in popularity during lockdown when the café started delivering leftover product to customers stuck at home.

But after landing a deal to roll it out in Woolworths last year, Coles jumped on board – and now both supermarkets stock various flavours of the iconic dough.

The latest flavour is only available at Coles, priced at $13 with shoppers being warned to “get in quick” before stock runs out.

James Meek, a co-founder at Bennett Street Dairy, said the collaboration had come about after “months of flirting” with Darrell Lea, resulting in the product currently on shelves.

“So far it’s flying off the shelf at Coles around Australia, with many regular cookie monsters claiming it to be our best flavour yet,” James told news.com.au.

“Bennett St Dairy and Darrell Lea first flirted with each other just over a year ago when a very small run of their romantic-flavoured cookie dough rolls popped up on shelves at specialist grocers in Sydney and Melbourne.

“This year though, stocks of the ‘Raspberry Bullets & White Choc’ flavour are available nationwide at more than 700 Coles supermarkets.”

On social media, the baked treat has been met with rave reviews, including Melbourne food blogger Ange Eats declaring it was “one of the best cookies” he’d ever eaten.

“Wow, I can’t get over how good this is,” Ange, who was paid to promote the product, declared.

While fellow food blogger Russ Eats, who is also an ex biscuit engineer for Arnott’s, compared the dough to the famous pre-made Subway cookies.

“I’ve made it very clear I won’t sell out for a paid promotion, so it will just be an honest review,” he said.

“They are packed full of raspberry and white chocolate. They obviously win, nothing beats a fresh baked cookie.”

Ange agreed with Russ’ findings in the comments section of his video when asked by a follower.

“Question is.. is it better than the subway white choc macadamia cookie?” the viewer pushed, to which Ange responded: “TBH with you, it actually is.”
