A German funeral ended on a high after mourners involuntarily digested marijuana at the end of the service.

Police in the German city of Rostock said on Tuesday that after the burial the mourners moved to a restaurant for coffee and cake, as a customary tradition.

But after eating a tray of brownies 13 people at the commemoration in the town of Wiethagen started complaining about dizziness. Some required medical treatment.

The police investigation revealed that an 18-year-old restaurant employee baked the cannabis treat for a “separate occasion” but it ended up being served it to the mourners.

The mother accidentally took the wrong cake from the freezer to the funeral and dished up marijuana-laced brownies.

According to authorities, one woman had to transported to hospital via an ambulance while others sought medical treatment later in the evening.

The incident took place in August but has not come to public light until now out of respect for the mourners.
