Menulog to help Deliveroo customers, delivery riders

Another food delivery service has extended a helping hand to customers and riders in the wake of Deliveroo’s shock closures.

Thousands of customers left with unused Deliveroo vouchers now void after the delivery service suddenly shut will still be able to use their gift cards and account credits.

Menulog, another food delivery service operator, announced on Friday it would honour any Deliveroo vouchers still valid.

It come as Deliveroo went into voluntary administration in Australia this week, citing poor profitability in a highly competitive market as the reason behind its collapse.

Menulog managing director Morten Belling said he expected there would be a lot of customers with unused Deliveroo vouchers and gift cards.

“We would like to give them the opportunity to redeem those vouchers on their next Menulog order,” Mr Belling said.

Menulog will also help the 15,000 workers impacted by the recent announcement from Deliveroo by offering expedited set up on the Menulog network.

“We know there are couriers out there who will be feeling the impact of this,” Mr Belling said.

“We can help couriers to get up and running on the Menulog network as a priority and provide any safety gear that is required, helping them get back to delivering orders and earning an income as quickly as possible.”

Voluntary administrators KordaMentha told riders on Tuesday they were no longer needed.

“The company ceased trading immediately and accordingly, the company will no longer be accepting orders or facilitating deliveries in Australia,” KordaMentha said in document issued to stakeholders.

“The administrators will contact you shortly in relation to the impact of the Administration and provide further details regarding how to submit a Proof of Debt form for amounts owed.”

Mr Belling said impacted restaurant and grocery partners should also contact Menulog for assistance.

Customers and workers are being encouraged to contact Menulog for help.
