McDonald’s tease new ‘Kiwi’ inspired McFlurry flavour

McDonald’s have teased the release of a new, “Kiwi” inspired McFlurry flavour – and fans already seem to have guessed what it will be.

Nutrition showdown: which fast food is the healthiest?

Everyone’s favourite spot for a drunken feed – McDonald’s – have teased the release of a new McFlurry flavour, inspired by our friends across the Tasman Sea.

With mainstay add-ins like Oreo and miniature M & M’s, the fast food giant dabbles in a new dessert combo at least once a year, with past specials including Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramello, Creme Egg and Doughnut Ball.

In a post to their Facebook page today, though, they hinted this new McFlurry will be unlike any we’ve tasted before.

“Something big is coming to Macca’s – give us your best guesses! And before you say bubblegum, this is a McFlurry collab Australia’s never seen before – one for all our Kiwi friends!” they wrote.

Social media users and ice cream fiends alike quickly looked for any clues the accompanying image could reveal – with many taking to the comments to declare they’d figured it out.

While some guessed the collaboration would involve Pineapple Lumps or Milo and others begged for coffee or Lotus Biscoff Spread (we wish), an overwhelming number of eagle-eyed fans seemed to crack the code.

Biscuit crumbs around the blacked-out McFlurry cup’s base and a furry red paw reaching into the image could only signal one thing, they argued: Cookie Time.

Anyone who’s been to New Zealand will no doubt be familiar with the Christchurch company, founded in 1983 and beloved for its Chocolate Chunk cookies and mouth-watering desserts.

The possibility of finally enjoying one of their biscuits mashed up in soft-serve ice cream was too much for some to handle, with one woman confessing: “Guess I’m getting fat again, if it’s Cookie Time cookies”.

“100 per cent it has to be Cookie Time,” commented another, adding, “OMG sis catch me at Macca’s daily.”

While we’ve never been blessed by the combination, McDonald’s in New Zealand released a Cookie Time McFlurry back in 2018, featuring Cookie Time Chocolate Chunk Cookie Crumbs paired with McDonald’s caramel sauce and soft serve.

If that’s anything to go on, prepare your stretchiest jeans, fuel up the car and go sit in the parking lot of your local Golden Arches until this new McFlurry hits stores.
