McDonald’s new restaurant features global menu
A NEW restaurant has brought together menu items from around the world. And a unique Australian offering has made the cut.
FOR years we’ve coveted many of the menu items available at McDonald’s restaurants around the world.
Think the McLobster in Canada or the Greek Mac with its pita bread instead of traditional bun and tzatziki instead of tomato sauce. Then there is India’s McCurry Pan and in the US the chicken biscuit with fried chicken between two buttermilk biscuits.
In Australia we have the unique Big Brekkie Burger, which made people all over the world jealous.
Now the lucky folks in Chicago get to experience all of this and more all in one amazing place, with the opening of a new global McDonalds featuring menu items from around the world.
The menu will rotate, however it has been revealed the first countries to showcase their meals France, Canada, Hong Kong, Brazil and Australia.
So what has Australia put up?
In what might seem a surprising choice for a burger loving nation, Australia is being represented by Cheese and Bacon loaded fries.
But you can also grab a coffee from an Australian McCafe area — the first McCafe was opened in Melbourne, in 1993.
France has two salads on the list — the Mozza Salad; a pasta salad with roasted tomatoes, arugula leaves, crispy or grilled chicken, a bread stick and of course, mozzarella and the Manhattan Salad — a mixture of lettuce and kale, tomatoes, dried cranberries, sliced apples, chicken and a bread stick.
The McSpicy Chicken Sandwich from Hong Kong promises a ‘deeply marinated chicken breast fried to crispy perfection’ and Canada is represented by The Mighty Angus Burger- with beef, all the regular burger fillings and smoky angus sauce.
And Brazil is bringing the dessert — The McFlurry Prestigio from Brazil — vanilla soft serve with chocolate covered coconut and strawberry sauce.
The restaurant will be on the first floor of the nine-story building and Features a map that lights up with golden arches when a country is represented on the menu and outdoor seating.
There will even be a Hamburger University, which provides training for future leaders and employees, in the building.
