McDonald’s Australia adds new nugget item and sauce to menu

The fast-food giant has bulked up a popular item for the first time in Australia – but despite its “share” size, fans have other ideas.

McDonald’s restaurants just got two exciting new additions – and it’s great news for chicken nugget lovers.

The fast-food giant has decided to cater to #nugg fans by launching a super-sized serving of the fried item that contains 40-pieces.

No that’s not a typo – you really can buy FORTY Chicken McNuggets in one hit – though it’s worth noting the “40 Chicken McNugget share pack” comes in two 20-piece boxes.

“Our customers love our famous Chicken McNuggets, which are made from 100% RSPCA Approved Aussie chicken breast,” a spokesperson told news.com.au

“The 40 Chicken McNugget share pack is the perfect meal to enjoy with family, friends or other Chicken McNugget fans in your life.”

The share pack price varies across restaurants but has a RRP of $20.95, McDonald’s Australia said.

And as if that news wasn’t exciting enough, there’s also a new sauce to go with it.

“The Spicy Sticky BBQ Sauce is a combination of a classic sweet barbecue flavour with a blend of chilli and spices,” a Macca’s Australia spokesperson said.

The “tasty” new condiment is available from February 16 for a limited time only, while the jumbo box of nuggets appears to be a permanent addition to the menu.

Macca’s new launches have excited TikTok users after Sydney foodie Adrian Widjy shared it on his account.

“Another #McDonalds News this time on #McNuggets & a new sauce launching tomorrow! @mcdonaldsau giving us the goodies!” the popular food reviewer wrote.

The revelation sparked excitement among Adrian’s 137,000 followers, with many writing they “wouldn’t share”.

“I may not be able to eat much but I can always eat 40 maccas nuggets,” one said.

“Need this 40 nugg box,” another wrote.

While one excited user wrote: “40 CHICKEN NUGGGETTSSS HELLOOO.”

Others had a more pressing question, asking whether you get a bigger sauce allowance with the larger box.

“Anyone else concerned how I’m gonna eat 40 nuggets with 2 sauces? I need at least 8…” one stated.

While another suggested you needed 4 sauce pots per 20 nugget pieces.

“The spicy sticky sauce is really good, it’s like a sweet chilli bbq,” another added.

The previous biggest nugget serving contained 24 pieces. Customers can also purchase servings of 20, 10, 6 and 3.

On Tuesday, the fast-food giant revealed it was adding two new items to its popular desserts range a creme brulee pie and creme brulee McFlurry.

The pie replaces Macca’s classic apple pie filling with custard and caramel, while the McFlurry features broken-up pieces of the pie as topping, along with caramel sauce.

The limited-edition items will be available in select outlets from Thursday.
