Man asks if others would complain about $38 pub steak meal

A man has taken to social media to share a photo of his $38 steak meal – with the piece of meat being the same size as his car keys.

The Adelaide man took to Reddit to share an image of what was supposed to be a 200 gram rib eye and chips.

But the piece of meat appeared to be the same size of the man’s RAV4 key chain.

In addition to the plate, there was access to a salad bar.

“38 bucks at the pub. Would you complain,” he captioned the image.

“Ordered medium rare. Still tasted great. The size shocked me. Would have loved to get the scales out haha.”

The man said he wouldn’t name the pub, as he didn’t want to name and shame, he just wanted people’s opinions.

Social media users were quick to jump on the chain, wracking up close to 650 comments.

“That’s a lot of chips! Seeing as there is a potato chip shortage, maybe you got bang for your buck,” one social media user pointed out.

Another said: “$38 is I guess a starter price for a steak, but honestly, should be bigger.

“I complained once and they told me the steak shrunk because I ordered it medium.

“Everyone else’s steak came out huge AF and my teeny tiny little steaklette dropped in front of me (after toiling all day and with the lads from work) I almost cried.”

The commenter added he did get a free beer out of it.

Another pointed out: “You know the weight given is the ‘before’ weight, right?”

However, one person made a joke out of the situation: “Waiter: How did you find your steak, sir? OP: Well I just moved some chips, and there it was!”

“Yes. Be grateful it’s not Melbourne – because it would be 45 bucks and served with barely concealed contempt,” another said.
