‘Love it’: Aussies froth over new $5.50 supermarket item
A highly anticipated supermarket item is about to hit the shelves, with many Aussies declaring it the perfect addition to the snack aisle.
A highly anticipated supermarket item will finally hit the shelves, with some declaring the chocolatey treat to be the perfect addition to the snack aisle.
Arnott’s has added a Gluten Free Cookies & Cream biscuit to its range. The new variety will be available in late February at all major supermarkets nationwide and will retail for $5.50.
Social media users have been waiting weeks for the official announcement.
Kati Keksi, a popular gluten free food blogger, posted a picture of the product last month.
“Okay coeliacs and gluten free folk, let’s celebrate. Coming soon from Arnott’s Biscuits gluten free cookies and cream,” she wrote.
Christopher Tsalikis, who runs Melbourne Coeliac, said he was “bloody excited” to try the biscuits.
“Cookies & Cream, come true,” he said.
“@arnottsbiscuits has dropped a game-changer, and we’re here for it! The new gluten-free cookies & Cream biscuits are about to have your tastebuds doing the cha-cha.
“It’s not just a biscuit — it’s a crumb-believable experience. So go ahead, dunk it, crunch it, love it.”
Other social media users weighed in on the latest addition.
“I live for the day we get gluten free Chicken Crimpies,” one declared.
Another biscuit fan added: “I’m not getting excited till I’m eating a GF Kingston.”
“I’m happy with whatever they offer. They generally release a couple at a time, so maybe another sweet variety coming our way,” one person commented.
One social media user said: “I absolutely love that Arnott’s is actively trying to give more gluten free options to coeliacs and gluten intolerant people. Will definitely be buying these.”
“I’m so glad they’re so far sticking to their word of producing more gluten free products this year,” another said.
The new offering joins several other Coeliac Australia-endorsed products from Arnott’s, including Tim Tam Original, Shapes Barbecue, Jatz, Scotch Finger, Mint Slice, TeeVee Snacks, Shortbread Cream and Tiny Teddy.
Ranita Cowled, the business director of treating at Arnott’s, said they are confident the Cookies & Cream biscuit will “quickly become a go-to treat.”
It comes after the brand announced that it would be axing the gluten free version of the Choc Ripple due to poor sales.
“The rumours are true,” Mr Tsalikis told news.com.au after reaching out to Arnott’s, who confirmed the news.
“Pretty much everyone is saying they have ruined Christmas as there will be no more Chocolate Ripple cake.”
Ms Cowled told news.com.au at the time: “As we continued to expand our Gluten Free range to offer more variety with exciting new products such as Arnott’s Tim Tam Gluten Free, Barbecue Shapes Gluten Free and Jatz Gluten Free, we’ve found that sales of some of our original gluten free range have slowed.
“As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue Arnott’s Choc Ripple Gluten Free as a permanent line. We remain committed to offering a variety of delicious and innovative Gluten Free options for the whole family to enjoy and look forward to sharing what’s next.”
