The fast-food giant is opening The Colonel’s Spice House in Sydney’s Spice Alley for two days on October 5 and 6 to celebrate the return of the Hot and Spicy menu, which first debuted in 1991 and hasn’t be available since 2022.
The two-day dining experience will serve up free-flowing KFC served for diners, including Hot & Spicy and a range of fiery items “never-seen-before” menus across the globe.
Those who are lucky to snag a seat at the pop-up restaurant will also get to tuck into Hot and Spicy Drumsticks and Hot and Spicy Mixed Pieces alongside a choice of six exclusive sauces.
The Hot and Spicy Symphony of sauces are designed to complement the fried chicken at various spice levels, including ‘Blazen Hot’ and ‘11 Spice Sauce’ — the hottest sauce to ever grace a KFC menu.
There is also the Zing Leader, which is a double breaded Zinger Fillet with coleslaw and Blazen Hot Sauce, and Wicked Wings with Extra Zing.
Dessert hasn’t been forgotten about, with Zinger Chocolate Mousse, which is Double Chocolate Mousse served with Raspberry dust and infused with KFC’s world-first spicy and sweet Zinger Sundae Sauce.
The special menu was created in conjunction with chef and ‘Wok of Wok Street’ creator, Vincent Yeow Lim, who is known as Dimsimlim on social media.
“There’s nothing I love more than experimenting with bold new flavours that really pack the heat, so I’m thrilled to be partnering with KFC again to bring Aussies the world-first ‘Colonel’s Spice House’,” said Vincent.
“Hot and Spicy is a personal menu favourite of mine, and reimagining this iconic feed for KFC fans to try in Sydney’s home of spice, Spice Alley, has been an absolute highlight. We can’t wait to see fans’ reactions to these.”
Tami Cunningham, the chief marketing officer at KFC Australia, said: “We love creating unique KFC experiences for our fans, and we can’t wait to bring back our fan-favourite Hot & Spicy in a big way.
“The ‘Colonel’s Spice House’ will offer a truly memorable dining experience, with an exciting menu designed around Hot & Spicy chicken offering an unforgettable KFC flavour experience.”
Tickets, which are priced at $30, will be available on Moshtix from October 2, and must be purchased in pairs.
Profits will go to KFC Youth Foundation and its charity partners: Black Dog Institute and ReachOut Australia.
But, for those who can’t make the pop-up, the Hot and Spicy menu will be available in KFC restaurants nationwide from October 1 until October 28.

Described by the chicken experts as “a world-first pop-up culinary destination”, KFC deep fried a range of non-chicken items, including cheesecake, broccolini and asparagus and a peanut butter and jam sandwich, in its signature crispy coating.
