‘IYKYK’: Coles sells wildly popular US lolly for $6
A beloved American sweet treat has been spotted on supermarket shelves in Australia with a price tag of just $6.
A popular American treat has been spotted on Australian supermarket shelves with a price tag of just $6.
Lena, who goes by @leenyeats on TikTok, took to the social media platform to share her excitement about Nerds Gummy Clusters being stocked in Coles.
“Okay, PSA. Coles finally has Nerds Gummy Clusters. If you know, you know,” she said.
Fans were equally as excited as Lena.
“Thank you for your service,” one social media user commented.
Another said: “I love the berry clusters! better than the OG gummy clusters I think.”
The lolly is particularly popular in the United States, and is a staple in the “candy salad” trend on TikTok – a viral recipe that involves tossing your favourite sweets into a bowl together.
The Berry version landed in Coles last month, but social media users are only just starting to spot it in the confectionary aisle of their local supermarket. A spokesperson confirmed it was now a permanent offering.
“The popular American ‘candy’ Nerds Gummy Clusters have indeed made their way to Australian shelves,” a Coles spokesperson told news.com.au.
“These colourful and flavourful nuggets of joy have been delighting our customers’ tastebuds since July of last year, when we first launched the original variant.
“Following their success, we introduced the Very Berry flavour to our shelves in February this year, and they too have been an irresistible hit among our customers looking for a sugar-hit.”
Lena told news.com.au the sweet treat has been available at specialty stores for quite a while but were “incredibly expensive”.
“Seeing it being affordable at the supermarket makes it easier to purchase more regularly now,” the spokesperson said.
Nerds Gummy Clusters have also been spotted in Big W, Woolworths and Kmart. They are currently on sale in Coles for $4.80.
Lena pointed out that lollies from the United States are always a “novelty” when they finally hit Australian shelves because they are either “hard to get or quite exclusive”.
The TikToker said she was recently in the US and wanted to bring back a stash of American lollies for herself. However, with the current exchange rate it worked out to be a lot more expensive than purchasing the varieties in Australia.
And she’s not wrong. Coles released its $5 Freeze-Dried Rainbow Crunch into stores last month. Freeze-dried lollies have been popularised in the US and the UK and it quickly became the supermarket’s top selling own-brand item in the confectionary aisle.
Popular food content creator JordsEats went to five different Coles before finding the popular lolly.
“They smell really good, I’m a bit scared,” he said.
After taking a bite he declared they were “a bit sour but good”.

“They remind me of a Skittle but extra sour and freeze dried,” the content creator said, adding they were “very addictive”.
Meanwhile another content creator, MamaChantel, said she was “instantly obsessed” with the sweet treats.
Maddi Rawson also declared the Freeze-Dried Rainbow Crunch a hit.
