Gourmet chef ‘ruins’ Macca’s meal
The viral TikTok showed a chef transforming the McDonald’s meal into a fancy dish – but not everyone is a fan.
One of the reasons Macca’s fans will often say they like the food is that it’s consistently the same, no matter which restaurant (or country) you visit.
But a chef has gone viral for showing how he was able to transform a Macca’s meal into a unrecognisable gourmet feast on TikTok.
His concoction has divided fans of the golden arches, with some even going so far as to claim his version ruins a “perfectly good” meal.
In a video that’s been viewed 16 million times, US food blogger Danny Kim set one of his chef friends a challenge, asking him to make his McDonald’s feed of two Quarter Pounders and two serves of French Fries fancy.

“We’re going to make a beef pithivier with a pomme puree and sauce charcuterie,” the chef announced.
He saved the burgers’ onions and pickles but threw out the buns, searing the meat patties in some olive oil to “condense that flavour”.
For the chips, he decided to cook them in garlic, bay leaves, milk and cream until they became soft.
He then placed the mixture in a blender before simmering again until he had mashed potato perfection.

To build the beef pithivier, also known as a beef Wellington, the chef layered diced spinach and artichoke between the two seared patties.
He then wrapped it in “decadent” prosciutto before encasing the creation in puff pastry and baking it in the oven.
For the sauce the chef cooked beef stock in a pan where he added the pickles, onion and butter to it.
Plating it up it was hard to believe that most of the meal originated from McDonald’s – and people who watched the video couldn’t believe it either.
“Went from $3.99 to $59.99,” one person wrote.
“That looks amazing: take my money,” another viewer commented.
Even Macca’s was impressed, with the fast food chain’s Canadian TikTok account describing it as “if *chef’s kiss* was a video”.
But not everyone was convinced, with some saying it they would still prefer just a regular Macca’s meal any day.
“It physically hurt me to watch those fries get mashed. They were already gourmet in my eyes,” one viewer lamented.
“This should be called how to ruin a perfectly good McDonald’s,” another commented.
