It’s taken years but fans of the popular item can now get their hands on it after the makers finally decided to release it in Australia.

New Cadbury item causes frenzy

For the first time ever, Aussies will be able to get their hands on a cult British item after fans begged for the makers to stock it Down Under.

If you’re a Brit, there’s a very good chance you know all about Green and Black’s ever so popular Maya gold bar.

Well, the London-based chocolate company has finally listened to the hopes and dreams of its fans abroad by releasing the bar in Coles stores across the country.

“Brits abroad and Aussies have been eager to be able to get their hands on Maya Gold for quite some time,” Paul Chatfield, senior marketing director for Green & Black’s ANZ, told news.com.au.

“In fact, we’ve been inundated with customer requests and feedback with expats wanting the taste of Maya Gold without having to catch an international flight.”

Paul said the chocolate bar, made mostly with cocoa dark chocolate, has been a bestseller in the UK for many years.

“So the chance to make it easily accessible in Coles and IGA stores is a huge win for chocolate lovers in Australia.”

The Central America-themed chocolate bar features flavours inspired by the traditional spiced chocolate drink from the Maya civilisation.

“We like to say that enjoying Maya Gold is like breaking off a square of gold,” Paul said.

“It’s based on a traditional, prized-chocolate drink from Belize and is a rich dark chocolate with a hint of orange, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. A 60 per cent dark cocoa chocolate, it has the perfect appeal to milk and dark chocolate lovers alike.”

To celebrate the release, Green & Black’s has partnered with In2thewild to give seven lucky Aussies a chance to win the ultimate chocolate-inspired, sensory experience.

Joining the release of Maya Gold bar in Australia is the Organic Sea Salt Milk Chocolate – which happens to be one of Green & Black’s top 10 selling chocolate blocks in the UK.

“Before launching to the country, there was no chocolate that matches the taste of the organic 37 per cent milk chocolate with sea salt that was readily available in major supermarkets. This offers something completely new for Aussies,” Paul said.

The two new bars will hit Coles and IGA stores nationwide from April 30 for $4.25 each.

And to celebrate, Green & Black’s is offering a rare chocolate-inspired, sensory experience to a handful of lucky Aussies.

“We wanted to take a chocolate block and create a wild sensory experience within nature to intensify the flavours of the Green & Black’s range,” Paul told news.com.au.

In partnership with luxury eco tiny home accommodation provider, In2thewild, each of the seven winners will be immersed in a revitalising escape in Australia’s heartland.

“Chocolate lovers can escape off-grid to a fairytale destination with nothing else but nature,” Paul added.

Competition winners will stay for two nights in a tiny home of their choice, receive a Green & Black’s chocolate hamper and a $400 travel voucher with the entire experience valued at $1,110.
