A major supermarket has revealed there is another way for customers to get their hands on a beloved item.

TikTok user @augustnumbat revealed he found a Coles’ $40 Sweet Symphony platter for $21.60 in store.

Typically, shoppers have to pre-order platters through the deli. However, news.com.au understands a small number of stores pre-make their platters.

The platters are then put in the fridge for customers to purchase. Typically, this is done on weekends. However, customers are encouraged to pre-order platters to ensure availability.

This can be done directly with deli staff or on the Coles website. The platters are made by hand and therefore need between 24 and 36 hours notice to prepare.

The Coles platters range from $15 to $55. There are charcuterie-style, wraps, dessert and fruit platters.

“We’re thrilled to see customers noticing our deli platters as they really are a great solution for entertaining and party needs,” a Coles spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Including delicious high-quality ingredients that offer great value, our platters provide an affordable and convenient way for you to entertain your friends and family.

“From an assortment of savoury selections such as hot roast chicken and wraps, as well as gourmet cheese and antipasto selections to trays full of sweet treats and other more-ish snacks, our platters will make your next entertaining or gathering event a breeze.”

Aussies have raved about the supermarket platters before. In 2022, one mum was grateful to discover Woolworths offered a hot chicken platter.

“Just wanted to thank the person that posted about Woolworths Hot Chicken Sharing Platter,” she wrote.

“That’s one easy Christmas for me this year – I’ll just add a little bit of seafood and won’t need to spend Christmas Eve or Christmas Day stuck in the kitchen.

“I had to go in store to the deli to pre-order.”

Social media users were chuffed with the information, with others sharing their experience.

“My mum gets these and the cold meats platter every year. We love them,” one said.

Another wrote: “We order these for family gatherings all the time pick them up hot – just get hot chips.”

One added: “I did this last year and the seafood one, stress-free and so good for the money.”

Another said: “It’s great value. All the platters are. Looking at ordering a couple for the school staffroom as a thank you.”

It comes after Australians were stunned at the news Coles launched a $10 Lunch Meal Deal. The meal deal is available in 160 supermarkets. This includes Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

Customers can pick one main, one snack and one drink. The deal, which launched last year, replicates offerings in the UK.

A Sydney-based shopper recently shared details of the “great value” offer on TikTok, leaving many were impressed the iconic “meal deal” was finally available in Australia.

“One of my favourite healthy lunches to get is this ten dollar meal,” the man, named Jax, shared.

The Wynyard supermarket offered Coles Finest and Coles Kitchen sandwiches, wraps, soup and salad bowls. It also had sushi from Sushi Pro, Yumami and Sushi Master, and Yumami bao buns.
