We’ve had frogs, koalas, and now, Cadbury has announced the arrival of “Australia’s newest sporting icon”, the Caramilk Wallaby.

Representing our national love and involvement in rugby union, the new “character” is made from Cadbury’s iconic Caramilk caramelised white chocolate and is available exclusively Down Under.

“We are so excited to be introducing a new Cadbury character to Australians,” Mondelez International’s Australia and New Zealand vice president of marketing, Paul Chatfield, said in a statement.

“We know the Wallaby is such an intrinsic Australian character, with deeply ingrained roots in sport, and nothing reflects Aussies’ love for sport more than our prized Wallabies and Wallaroos rugby teams.

“No matter whether a sporting or Caramilk fan, this new character is for all Australians to enjoy and celebrate.”

Aussies can “hop” to their local supermarket and find the Caramilk Wallaby on shelves from today nationwide.

The treat is being sold in a share pack, featuring 12 individually-wrapped 12g pieces.

It comes amid a frenzy over another new Cadbury offering, its “Slices” range, which comes in three varieties at $5.50 each: Dairy Milk Slices Crackle, Old Gold Slices Mint Cream, and Caramilk Slices Hedgehog.

Social media user @snackreviews_aus said she loved the taste of the Hedgehog slice version, which featured rice crispy treats.

“It’s up there with some of my current favourites,” the woman behind the account said.

“It kind of reminded me of the Dream white Christmas block but without the raspberry flavour.”

Nick Vavitis, who owns brownie company Choclt, tried the crackle version of the chocolate.

“You can see how crackle-filled it is,” he said, pointing to the chunky part of the chocolate before taking a bite.

He said while the chocolate itself “wasn’t anything special” it had the nostalgic factor as it reminded him of childhood birthday parties.

“It does need a bit more coconut but it is super crackly.”
