Best ice cream list: Maxibon and Magnum in top spot

The man behind the chocolate ranking list that sparked social media outrage is back — and his latest offering is just as outrageous.

Today Show hosts debate over the best servo ice cream

Bubble O’Bill fans, stop reading now.

The Aussie dad behind that divisive chocolate ranking list is back and this time he’s pulling no punches and ranking ice cream.

Bruno Bouchet, managing director and former Kyle & Jackie O radio show producer, has ranked 12 of Australia’s beloved ice creams with the top and bottom rankings sure to be controversial.

Presenting his findings on Today this morning here’s how his list shaped up — with added, unnecessary commentary.

GOD TIER

Maxibon: The best ice cream known to man because it’s basically a two for one deal. But haters will say it should be disqualified because of its delicious biscuit section.

Magnum Classic: The ice cream you thought classy rich people ate based on all the TV ads you watched growing up.

Paddle Pop Rainbow: Definitely the more aesthetically pleasing of the ice cream range — but is it really just vanilla with food colouring?

ROYALTY TIER

Drumstick Choc Mint: Solid choice and by far the best choice of the Drumstick flavours.

Weis Mango Bar: Delicious, fruity goodness that you get when you feel too guilty to get chocolate.

ADAM SANDLER (TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT)

Classic Vanilla Drumstick: Another solid, albeit less exciting choice than the choc mint flavour.

Connoisseur Salted Caramel With Macadamia/ Magnum Almond: Again, major adult classy vibes but perfect for days when you’re feeling a bit more extra.

PLEB TIER

Paddle Pop Chocolate: OK, but you only buy if they’ve run out of rainbow or you’re low on coins.

Golden Gaytime: Again OK, however, it’s definitely a ‘fancy’ ice cream you get when you don’t have enough cash for a Magnum or Drumstick.

WOULD RATHER EAT A BUCKET OF CAT VOMIT TIER

Classic Vanilla Cornetto: The poor man’s Drumstick.

Bubble O’Bill: You either loved it or you hated it as a kid, but many an adult has been surprised to learn that Bubble O’ Bill doesn’t taste quite as good as it did in your childhood.

“Bubble O’ Bill is trash,” he told Today hosts earlier, adding Cornetto was also “trashed” in his rankings.

Ben Fordham tried to defend this ranking, calling the Bubble O’ Bill a “gateway” to bubblegum.

“It’s the first chance kids get to try bubblegum in their lives and you’re putting it down the bottom you idiot,” he protested.

“It’s double the fun,” Deb Knight agreed, as Ben said “every kid in Australia is mocking you”.

But Bruno remained firm, saying he’s “never seen” anyone buy one at a servo.

However the hosts agreed that the Golden Gaytime wasn’t a great Aussie ice cream, with Georgie Gardner saying “I don’t rate it”.

Overall Deb was particularly unhappy with the result, saying the “pleb tier should really be the royal God tier”.

Social media users are just as irate, calling the list “wrong on so many levels”.

“Don’t like ANY of the top tier, only the Weis in the 2nd, all of the 3rd, both ofhte 4th and LOVE the cornetto on the bottom,” one wrote on Facebook.

“That Weis bar needs to be above god and beside a macadamia Weis bar,” another said.

“I’m disappointed that the chocolate heart and the milo tub are missing,” one person wrote.

Another raged: “Does this Aussie dad even have any taste buds? Clearly not!”

For his chocolate ranking last week Mr Bouchet chose Picnic, Turkish Delight and Chomp as his “God tier”, followed by Snickers, Twix and Curly Wurly in the “Royalty tier”.

In the centre of his rankings — a category he listed as the “Adam Sandler tier” or the “take it or leave it” tier he listed KitKat, Crunchie and Mars.

In the second last tier titled “Pleb”, he picked Twirl, Time Out and Aero.

Finally, the “would rather eat a bucket of cat vomit tier” included Violet Crumble, Milky Way, Chokito and Bounty.
