‘Awesome’: $13.50 Coles deal shoppers are loving
A supermarket combo deal involving a long-running fan favourite item has been described as “awesome” by budget savvy Coles shoppers.
A supermarket deal involving a fan favourite item has been described as “awesome” by Coles shoppers.
Popular food creator Foodie Mumma Ren took to Facebook to share a snap of a $13.50 deal being offered at Coles. Customers could snap up a Hot Roast Chicken, which typically sells for $12.50.
However, the deal now allows shoppers to purchase a 1.25L bottle of Fanta, Sprite, Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Classic Coke for just a $1.
Currently, the varieties are at half price, selling for $2. However, when not on sale customers would be saving $3.
“Awesome offer,” the food blogger said.
A Coles spokesperson said Hot Chickens are one of the supermarket’s “most purchased items”.
“We are always looking at ways to offer our customers great value on the items they need and want regularly, to help Australians feed their families,” the spokesperson told news.com.au.
The promotion is on offer for the next year.
“Our RSPCA Approved Hot Roast Chickens are one of our most purchased items across the entire supermarket and offer a convenient and healthy staple meal.
“Right now, nationally until Feb 2026, customers can enjoy a Coles RSPCA hot roast chook along with a 1.25L Coke variety for $13.50.”
Many other social media users weighed in on the promotion.
“What a good deal,” one said.
Another added: “It’s not much of a deal for my local Coles as our hot chickens are $11.50.”
“Best Combo deal would be a pack of pasta salad and 6 pack of bread rolls,” one joked, referring to a popular Australian dinner where you’re rushed for time.
In 2022, Woolworths had an offer that allowed shoppers to purchase two barbecue roast chickens, 12 white bread rolls, a 400g tub of coleslaw and a 400g tub of pasta salad. At the time, it retailed for $25, meaning it would be a saving of $13 compared to if you purchased all the times separately.
However, customers kicked off just months later when it was revealed the popular item increased to $35, according to 7News.
A Woolworths spokesperson told the publication at the time that it was due to “wholesale cost increases from suppliers”.
The Coles Hot Chicken deal isn’t the only offer that has caught shoppers’ attention in recent months after many were stunned by the $10 Lunch Meal. It launched last year and is now available at around 160 Coles supermarkets with an “expansive convenience and food to go range” in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
The lunchtime offer enables customers to choose from one main, one snack and one drink and has been compared to the cultural British phenomenon offered by a range of retailers across the country.
“One of my favourite healthy lunches to get is this ten dollar meal,” one social media user who discovered the deal shared.
He then proceeds to pan his camera across the fridge section at the Wynyard store in Sydney, showing a selection of Coles Finest and Coles Kitchen sandwiches, wraps, soup and salad bowls, as well as sushi from Sushi Pro, Yumami and Sushi Master, and Yumami bao buns.
“Looks like it’s quite popular, but it’s good, I like to get a salad,” he continued.
The shopper also opted for a Chobani yoghurt pouch from the selection of snacks available, which also includes Coles Kitchen cheese and biscuits, nuts and chilled dessert, YouFoodz bites and Yog’N Oats, as well as a bottle of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar from the range of drinks.
“A lot of the stuff was taken as it’s ten to 1, but you can always grab a tin of tuna or some chicken if you need some extra protein,” he said.
“But for 10 bucks, it’s good value, go check it out.”
