Australians share their opinion on Domino’s latest crust feature

A beloved pizza chain has teamed up with another iconic Aussie brand, serving up a bold mashup – and food reviewers have weighed in.

It’s a big day when takeaway fans can combine two heavyweights in one bite – a pizza AND a meat pie.

And that’s exactly what Domino’s has done, teaming up with Four’N Twenty pies to create the Meat Pie Crust Pizza.

The surprising twist on the classic pizza slice was made available on May 19, with Domino’s customers able to pay just $3 extra to have eight mini pies added to any pizza.

Some Aussies have already weighed in on the mashup, including popular food reviewer and content creator Russ Eats.

He said he’s wanted to try it ever since Pizza Hut released a similar offering.

Wild take on new pizza combo

“They actually look pretty good, I want to see how they break apart thought because they’ve actually had to take care when cutting this — unlike other Domino’s pizzas,” he said.

He ordered two of the pizzas — one with a tomato base and one with a barbecue base, first trying it as a normal slice, and then folding it over to get the full effect.

“Separately, if you eat it like a regular slice, it’s a pie and pizza separately so if you want both, it’s the perfect combo for you,” he said.

“Together, I feel like it’s working but I feel like I need to be really p***ed and I’ll absolutely love this.”

The TikToker commented that he wasn’t a fan of the barbecue sauce, and insisted the combo needed to be had with a tomato base pizza. However, he said the nostalgia of party food really worked well with the creation.

Meanwhile, @ThePieBoi also delivered his review, saying the only way to eat it is to flip the pizza so you get both flavours at the same time.

“This is what a good collaboration looks like,” he said.

Others shared their thoughts, with some expressing other flavour combinations that they wish would return.

“State of Origin dinner sorted,” one person said.

Another added: “I wish Four’N Twenty was in New Zealand, one of the best things I had in Australia.”

“I feel like it would be better if just the pie filling was inside the crust,” someone else suggested.

Another social media user proposed: “They should do mini sausage rolls.”

“Damn those are good looking pizza … mine NEVER look that well made from Domino’s,” one commented.

Another said: “I remember when one of them did the hot dog stuffed crust, which was pretty damn good.”

“They should just do a Vegemite and cheese pizza tbh sounds better then a pie crust pizza,” another fan commented.

“I want the Vegemite Pizza back,” lamented another.

“Taking ‘pizza pie’ to the next level,” one person commented.

Allan Collins, Domino’s ANZ chief marketing officer, said: “This is the kind of pizza dreams are made of. We’ve taken two of Australia’s most iconic game-day staples and fused them into something truly unique.

“Aussies have grown up with meat pies at the footy and Domino’s on the couch, so bringing the two together felt like the ultimate game-day power play. We’re stoked to be teaming up with Four’N Twenty to create something cheeky, iconic, and totally delicious.”

In addition to the Meat Pie Crust Pizza, there is also the My Footy Box, which includes a mini pepperoni pizza, two pies, tomato sauce and chips, and the Mini Meat Pies Four Pack.
