Aussie Macca’s menu exposed by viral hack, leaving Brits furious
A Melbourne woman’s “irresistible” McDonald’s order exposed a difference between UK and Aussie menus – and the Brits aren’t happy.
British McDonald’s customers have been left fuming after a viral video revealed Australians can buy a popular menu item all day long.
Kelly Arvan, from Point Cook in Victoria, has clocked up almost 7 million views after sharing her unusual Macca’s hack.
In the clip, she revealed she likes to order two hash browns and an Oreo McFlurry, to create an unusual twist on an ice-cream sandwich.
The video went global, with fast-food fans around the world trying out the mum-of-one’s “irresistible” salty and sweet creation.
But the TikTok has had another unexpected effect, after it exposed a huge difference between the Australian and UK McDonald’s menus, and has left the Brits feeling hard done by.
In a video responding to Kelly’s hack, UK foodie Kane Hinge said he was “confused” by how the Aussie woman ordered hash browns at the same time as a McFlurry.
Australian McDonald’s has an “all day menu” which offers customers the ability to have “a Big Mac for breakfast or a Hash Brown for dinner” – however the UK burger chain doesn’t offer this to Brits.
Across the pond, McDonald’s serves breakfast every day until 11am, then it switches to its regular menu – even at 24 hour restaurants.
Kane and his army of British followers have been left “upset” by the hash brown discovery, calling for the same rights as Aussies.
“In Australia hash browns are all day,” one bragged.
“Try whinging at Macca’s. It’s what worked for Australia to get hashbrowns 24/7,” another suggested.
Another said: “Breakfast all day Down Under baby.”
“Macca’s in Australia is so much better than the UK sorry to be the bearer of bad news,” another gloated.
A few clever Brits keen to try Kelly’s hack shared a trick to help get around the menu issue, stating they ordered hash browns two minutes before the menu change over.
But mostly, they just raged about the “injustice” of not being able to order brekkie all day too.
“Not fair,” one lamented, as another wrote: “Get me to Australia.”
Kelly’s hack had a huge effect in Australia too – even radio host Kyle Sandilands has got in on the action.
“I love a hash brown and I love a McFlurry, so how bad can it be?” he said in a video shared on the Kyle & Jackie O TikTok page.
The KIIS 106.5 presenter then took a bite out of the sanga, declaring “that’s good” before making an X-rated joke about the melting ice cream dripping on the floor.
Many also suggested her left-of-field Macca’s hack could be a sign she was pregnant, something she later shut down in the comments section stating: “It’s just my tastebuds.”
