Aldi’s sellout $6 cheese is back
It’s the tasty pantry item that caused so much chaos in the aisles, it was discontinued. Now the bargain cult buy is back.
Cheese lovers are about to lose their minds.
Fromage fanatics have spotted that Aldi’s Le Pave cheese is back in stores after being discontinued following a frenzied surge in popularity that led to it selling out nationwide last year.
The $6 product became a cult buy thanks to its creamy taste. So tasty in fact, the stuff was compared by foodies to D’Affinois — a French cheese that retails for as much as $17 for 200g.
Fan page Aldi Lovers Australia revealed the exciting discovery on Instagram, telling its 85,000 followers the highly sought-after cheese had been spotted “back on shelves” in Cockburn Gateways WA store.
“STOP THE PRESS. Stalk the cheese fridge. Because look what’s coming back on the shelves,” the post read.
Understandably, the reaction was massive with other people sharing details of their own cheesy hauls.
“Bought five on Thursday. Best day ever,” one delighted fan wrote.
“YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!,” another typed.
One said: “I’ve been waiting for this for soooooooooooooo loooonnnngg.”
“It’s back, party time,” an excited user commented.
Within the hundreds of comments on the post, were sightings of the cheese on shelves in various NSW, QLD, WA and SA stores.
Back in July 2018, the cheese caused shoppers to go into a frenzy, selling out in stores across the country.
One journalist even reported they’d cried when they struggled to get hold of their favourite baguette topper.
Oz has no sense of making cheese. Luckily, I found an alternative, Le pave and La Brique at Aldi. Value for money pic.twitter.com/k9IfvGN5QU

Why this $6 cheese flies off the shelves https://t.co/DBctB1tvdT via @newscomauHQ
Despite having been in stock since mid-2017 and enjoying an epic boost in sales,
the German supermarket soon stopped selling it.
Which is why so many people are delighted at its apparent return.
An Aldi Australia spokesperson confirmed to news.com.au that they’d brought back the beloved cheese after receiving huge demand.
“Due to fantastic customer feedback and high demand, we’re pleased to confirm that our La Pave cheese is back on shelves and is now available at your local ALDI store, nationwide,” the spokesperson said.
“Crafted in the heart of France, La Pave cheese ($5.99) is the perfect addition to any cheese board or paired with one of our award-winning wines.”
But if the response to the cheese last time is anything to go by, you’ll have to get in quick.
