With rising grocery costs, Aussies will be pleased to know they can save almost $2500 a year at Aldi, in comparison to other major retailers.

The German chain’s recent Price Report revealed a 24.7 per cent price gap among its competitors – meaning an average family can save up to $2468 a year when shopping at the budget retailer.

It states that an average family of two adults and two children spend $192.19 weekly or $9994.05 yearly on groceries.

“We can save them a massive $1555 a year even if they already shop the cheapest products at one of our competitors,” the commissioned report reads.

“This number jumps to $2468 saved if they usually buy branded products.”

The research also revealed (88 per cent) of Aussie shoppers are looking at changing their spending in the next year.

“And that starts with finding the best deals around,” Aldi Australia managing director Oliver Bongardt said in the report.

It comes as Roy Morgan named Aldi Australia as ‘Supermarket of the Year’ for the second year in a row.

“At a time when many are feeling the pinch, this recognition and acknowledgment only further cements the importance of our commitment and mission to continue to provide the highest quality products at the lowest prices in the market,” Simon Padovani-Ginies, group director for Aldi Australia, told news.com.au.

“The award affirms our ongoing commitment to provide high quality products at the lowest prices in the market, with our 2022 Price Report showing a massive 24.7 per cent price gap between us and our competitors.”

Mr Padovani-Ginies said given the recent hike in living costs, with many Aussies looking to tighten their budgets, he hopes the award helps shoppers recognise Aldi’s ongoing price commitment.

During a year plagued by challenges from supply chain issues to the rising cost of living, Aldi retained over 95% customer satisfaction throughout the year.

Roy Morgan’s customer satisfaction ratings are calculated from an annual survey of more than 60,000 Australians.

Covering 40 categories across all industries, the yearly award is presented to the organisation from each category with the highest number of top monthly ratings for customer satisfaction throughout the previous 12 months.

They track customer satisfaction, engagement and loyalty.

Since its inception in 2012, Aldi has won the award five times.

“Aldi has outperformed its rivals by delivering the highest customer satisfaction throughout 2021 to take out both the Supermarket of the Year and Mobile Phone Service Provider of the Year Awards for the second straight year,” Michele Levine, CEO, Roy Morgan said.

“The high level of customer satisfaction for the two Aldi brands is matched by the high level of trust people have in Aldi – consistently one of Australia’s most trusted.”
