McDonalds drink size TikTok video sparks outrage online
At just 24 seconds, this McDonald’s employee video is stoking equal parts disbelief and anger over a rumour about the fast food giant.
Who knew a Macca’s Coke could be so controversial?
In a TikTok video that’s been viewed more than 11 million times, one McDonald’s worker claims he has proven that all the fast food chain’s cups hold the same amount of drink.
In the video @mykah.mykah from the US pours Coke from a small McDonald’s cup into a medium and then a large.
Each time the liquid, which has no ice in it, fits into the next size up (bar just a few centimetres at the top).
“They do be lying to us doe,” he captioned the video.

The TikTok clip has now had more than 12,000 comments from people either convinced @mykah.mykah is somehow faking the amounts in each cup or has otherwise exposed the biggest hoax of the 21st century.
“That’s what happens when you fill up each of the cups slightly and then pour more in,” one person wrote, while another agreed and added: “You could at least make it less obvious that you filled the cups.”
But others, including someone who claimed they worked at the fast food chain as well, said the video was legit.

“I worked at McDonald’s and this is true. Always say no ice or ice on the side (in another cup) and only order smalls, NEVER medium,” the employee said.
“The diameter of the cups is wide so the proportions seem the same but they are in fact not,” one person commented.
In the US, all McDonald’s drinks cost $1, with their soft drink sizing drastically different to Australia and among the largest servings in the world.
An American McDonalds small drink is around 473ml, a medium is 621ml and a large is 887ml while in Australia a small is around 300ml, a medium is 500ml and a large is 650ml.
It’s not the first time a fast food chain’s drink servings have gone viral either, with a video of cups from US burger chain Jack In The Box showing how small, medium and large sizes held virtually the same amount of soft drink in 2017.

Elena Pajkovska said you should order a frozen coke, shot of espresso and vanilla syrup and the combo, “will change your life”.
“Literally every time I got McDonald’s and make this order, the staff are like … really?” she said in the clip.
Her post has since gone viral, attracting just over half a million views and hundreds of comments from people eager to give it a go.
