WHETHER you know a lot about wine or just like drinking it, this news is sure to whet your palate.
WHETHER you know a lot about wine or just like drinking it, this news is sure to whet your palate.
A new app called Wineosphere is making waves as for the first time everything you could need or want in order to buy and enjoy a drop is brought together in one.
“Wineosphere brings together so many threads of the modern connected life into a single place,” says the Aussie developer David Walsh. “To date, wine lovers have had to use many apps and websites to achieve what Wineosphere does in one.”
Those who download the free app can search for wines by price, variety, region, barcode or vintage or ask for recommended wines that are good ‘bang for buck’ or will complement a meal.
There are over 22,000 independent reviews of Australian and New Zealand wines from guys who know what they are talking about (The Wine Front’s Gary Walsh and Mike Bennie plus Campbell Mattinson who is the former editor of James Halliday Wine Companion magazine).
Users of the app can also explore local restaurants and bars, check out their ratings and reviews, chat with the online community and also see what wines people are rating or hating.
They can share ‘Wineograms’ with friends, post their own reviews and fave them so they never forget.
If a wine takes their fancy, there is also a quick way to order a box straight to your door thanks to Kemenys, WineStar and United Cellars who have partnered with Wineosphere.
As for in store purchasing, those who hit up a Porter’s Liquor in Sydney can make use of new iBeacon technology, a handy guide to quickly find great wines and exclusive offers in store.
So finally, no more scouring the aisles of liquor stores aimlessly, hoping that you don’t choose a dud for your dinner party. And the even better news is, it’s the weekend which is the perfect time to test it out.
