Create your own burger: McDonald’s Australia transforms fast-food experience

WHAT has happened to Macca’s? Their new burger range will have you thinking you are in a gourmet burger restaurant.

GOURMET, customisable burgers, brought to your table by a waitress on a wooden board, complete with a wire basket of fries. No, it’s not your local hipster burger joint. It’s Macca’s.

McDonald’s is giving its burger menu a complete revamp, with aims to transform the Macca’s experience for all Australians within three years.

The changes include a new customisable burger menu called ‘Create Your Taste’ where customers will use digital kiosks to build their own burger from scratch, choosing from 19 ingredients.

McDonald’s is also introducing table service, allowing customers to relax with a drink while they wait for their customised burger to be cooked and brought to their table.

No more lining up at the counter.

The new menu is available at Castle Hill restaurant in western Sydney and will soon be implemented around the country.

“McDonald’s is innovating and changing again to meet the needs of our customers,” McDonald’s Australia CEO Andrew Gregory said. “What we’re really doing here is simply what our customers have asked us to do.”

But not everyone is a fan of the change, with some people on social media comparing McDonald’s new menu to burger chain Grill’d, who also serve their burgers on wooden boards with flag skewers.

However, McDonald’s say that the response has been positive so far.

“Feedback on our new Create Your Taste range and our table service has been fantastic,” said Mr Gregory.

“We are looking forward to rolling out the concept around the country in the coming months.”
