A popular noodle product from China is being pulled from shelves over fears it could pose a potentially deadly risk.
Food Standards Australia issued an urgent recall on Saturday for Shaanxi Cold Noodle due to the possible presence of peanuts.
The Sammi (Aust) Pty Ltd product, which contains noodles and seasoning in a 186g package, is being recalled “due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (peanut),” according to a Food Standards release.
“Any consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” reads the release.
“Consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
The recall is limited to packets with a best before date of July 11, 2023.
The noodles have been available for sale as Asian supermarkets in New South Wales, Victoria, and the ACT.
