STRATEAS. CARLUCCI is Australia’s most in-demand. With an upcoming show in Paris, muse Lindy Klim poses exclusively for Insider in the label’s latest collection.
NEWLY crowned GQ Designers of the Year, Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci, the creative collaboration behind label Strateas. Carlucci, have revealed they will show on-schedule at Paris Fashion Week in March.
“It will be our first official presentation on the fashion week schedule,” Carlucci said. “Creatively speaking, it is still in initial stages and we are talking with venues, but it will have a live element with models.”
Within 12 months, they have become the most talked about designers in the country. Earlier this year they took out the Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award, as well as two gongs at the Australian Woolmark Prize (for womenswear and menswear).
“It’s exciting, it’s been a big year for us. And next year will be another big year with the upcoming International Woolmark Prize finals,” Carlucci said.

In January they travel to London to compete for the menswear award. Then it’s off to Beijing in March for the womenswear presentation.
Since launching the brand in Paris two years ago, they have never looked back. While celebrities are clamouring to wear their creations, stores around the globe are committed to buying the label’s tailored aesthetic.
“We chose Paris as our international base because we want to sit next to like-minded brands. We are now going to focus a lot more on that market because all the best stores from Japan, China and the States go there as well,” Carlucci said.
The new spring/summer range has a utilitarian approach with the idea to tie and knot specific pieces.
“It’s really up to the wearer’s interpretation, adding your own voice into the garment,” he said.
Model Lindy Klim, who flew from Bali for the shoot, says it is all about wearing well-crafted fashion.
“We live in a world of fast fashion; it’s great to wear pieces that are so well crafted. They are so understated and I like that they let the pieces talk for themselves,” she said.
The line will be available at David Jones in February.
