ITALIAN fashion heir, Angela Missoni and matriarch, Señora Rosita Missoni landed in Sydney yesterday to launch their new collaboration with Target.

After the long-haul flight from Europe, the stylish mother and daughter went out to enjoy a day on the harbour.

This is their first collaboration with an Australian brand, and Angela says it will fit our laid-back Aussie lifestyle.

“There are similarities between the Italian and Australian culture, we have the same attitude of enjoying the sun and life — and taking it with a bit of easiness,” she said.

Items from the main line normally sell for thousands of dollars but the Target collar will retail from $10.

“There is something for everybody, whether it is a printed dress, a beach towel or a photo frame,” Missoni said.

The brand’s iconic zigzag pattern is worn on celebrities such as Jessica Alba and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Señora Rosita Missoni was at the helm of the brand for 50 years, and in 1997 handed the reigns of the label to her daughter, Angela. The collection lands in stores this Wednesday.

Other high profile collaborations recently launched include Kate Moss for Topshop, Peter Morrissey for Big W, and H&M will launch its first Alexander Wang this month.

“I want to move to the US and would love to do collaborations with Nike and Adidas,” she said.

With her sights set high, Cross believes the overseas arena is the best place to grow a brand.

The next step is to find a New York showroom.

“There is more money there, and with a larger population, there are more shoppers,” she said.

Her urban goddess gowns (above) and lambskin jackets have an edgy sophistication that is likely to do well in that highly commercial market.
