WEARING Lycra in public is considered the ultimate fashion faux pas — but that’s about to change.

Rihanna’s favourite Sydney swimwear brand, We Are Handsome, will launch its first athletic range at Fashion Week and managing director Jeremy Somers says the high-octane prints are fashion forward.

“It’s definitely not limited to the gym — we’re making something with form and function by using panels, mesh and wild prints. That way you can wear it as activewear or on a shopping trip to Bondi Junction.”

The new line will be launched with high-profile sports women such as former pole vaulter Amanda Bisk walking on the runway.

“We think women are ready for it because they walk around in gymwear now and our technical pieces will include florals through to animal prints with big lion heads,” Somers said.

MIRANDA KERR’S FASHION WEEK TIP

SUPERMODEL Miranda Kerr won’t make it home to fashion week this month and admits she never expected to still be modelling.

“I never thought I’d still be doing this job but I’m so grateful to meet creative people and travel,” she said. Her tips for surviving fashion week are simple.

”Don’t feel like you have to go to the parties and drink a lot of water,” she said.
