MasterChef judge Melissa Leong's massive earrings sell out in frenzy

This year’s MasterChef is very different from previous seasons, with Melissa Leong serving up some serious fashion looks — and fans are loving it.

It's safe to say this year's MasterChef is unlike any other season.

First of all, the contestants are all star cooks from previous seasons and there are three new judges.

And if anyone was missing Matt Preston's cravats, there is a new attention-grabbing fashion item that is proving a major distraction from the dishes — Melissa Leong's earrings.

The food critic has been bringing her fashion A-game to each episode of MasterChef with some seriously eye-catching looks, with brightly-patterned dresses and chic heels.

Speaking to news.com.au, Melissa said she was surprised by how much attention her looks on MasterChef had gotten.

“I find it really funny all of the comments on the fashion and the hair and the makeup and things like that,” she said.

“I love style in this capacity, to me style is a vehicle for commanding attention and then being able to diffuse that and convey what’s going on.

“It’s a lightning rod for attention to cast on to the real stars of the show which are these tremendous cooks. We have so much fun doing what we do every day and it’s really lovely that people pick up on that.”

But MasterChef fans know that it’s the earrings that are the true stars of Leong's outfits, and on Tuesday night she wore her most extra pair yet.

Wow.
Wow.

OTT and fabulous, who else do you know that would pull off hot pink tassel earrings with a sensible suit and polka dot top?

Unfortunately, the Lovisa earrings are no longer available online, however, the brand has a similar blue tassel pair for $19.99.

The store also has a stack of statement earrings on its website, with most priced at $20 and under.

Still available are the geometric earrings that Leong has in multiple colours and styles.

This red textured pair she wore on episode four is even on sale, reduced from $17.99 to $7.

In response to the attention her eye-catching outfits and earrings have got from viewers, Leong shared an Instagram post thanking her “very talented glam squad” for helping her pull looks together with their “impeccable taste and collaborative spirit”.

She told news.com.au each of her looks were carefully decided on depending on the episode.
“Charmaine is incredible, our wardrobe stylist. We work very closely on the whys and the hows of what we choose and sometimes it’s a day for a bit of extra frivolity, and other times it’s a little bit more paired-back,” Melissa said.

“There is a high degree of intelligence and consideration that goes into every single aspect of the show, including the aesthetics of the way that Jock and Andy I look and the way that we’re presented.

It’s a really lovely thing because it’s casting wide on some of the other departments that don’t always get the credit for the amazing things that they do. Our styling team and our hair and make up department are world class.”
